Will India be The Rape Capital of the world?

Every time we pay attention towards newspaper or notice on television, we encounter with different outgoings of our society. But one thing is constantly taking place on a mass scale all over the world i.e. Rapes. There’s not a single day when no one is raped. And no doubt if we’ll not pay attention towards this problem the situation will be heart-rending. In this article I’ll break silence on this irascible issue: Rapes in India. I would like to insist you all that please go through this article sensitively.
India ranks third in world for the number of rapes reported each year. And most of the cases are not filed because police neglects them or victim doesn't wish to file. But if every single case of rape will be reported then statistics will be different. Here in India, rape is the most common crime and when it comes to dress down rapist our politicians assert, it’s equally fault of the victim, boys will be boys. I would like to inquire if a woman is raped then how she’s responsible for her rape. Let me share some views of people from our society, some said because girls wear short dresses so men get provoked, women should wear simple clothes and some suggested women should not go outside. It’s not fault of our clothes but fault of your thinking. And I don’t think a woman is out of harm’s way in her own house too because there are cases when a father raped his daughter, a brother raped his sister, and a father-in-law raped his daughter-in-law or someone else from family and so on.
According to NATIONAL CRIME RECORD BUREAU, child rape cases increased from 292 in 2012 to 419 in 2013, 93 women are being raped in India every day and in every 20 minutes a woman is raped. We have seen strong protests from people in Nirbhaya’s case but it’s in fact excruciating that there is no change in the situations. In greater kailash an 88 year old lady was raped, in Uttar Pradesh a 23 year old teacher was allegedly kidnapped and raped, a 15 year girl from Arkalgeed taluk was raped by her father, and a 7 year girl was raped by a youth in Deokali village, the list is very long because in every 20 minutes a rape took place in India so I can’t present each and every case.
If we’ll note that why these cases of rape are increasing day by day then we’ll find that first of all, victim doesn't file case and the second thing is if somehow victim file a case then meticulous actions are not taken against rapist. The reasons of not filing case against rapist are, family of victim doesn't support her, police doesn't support victim, and our Indian society doesn't accept victim, its considered a garden-variety in India and victim was worried for her future. And reasons for not taking strict actions against rapist are, most of the time rapist was from a wealthy family so he managed to get out from this, rapist can have connections with powerful peoples, most of the time it’s difficult to prove rape and our judiciary system is honestly very kind so rapist knows he’ll get punishment after a long period of time.  Because of all these things the situation is turning somber in India.
Today India is reckoned as number three in reporting rapes every year but may be in future India will gain number one position. And then India will be the Rape Capital of world but do you think it’ll be beneficial for us??? If we honestly want to handle this condition then first of all we have to change our mentality towards every woman, as we respect our mother, daughter, sister or wife in the same way we should respect every woman. Second thing is families of victim, police and society should support victim because it’s not her fault. Third thing is strict actions must be taken against rapist. And the most vital thing is women have to take a stand for themselves because if they’ll not fight for justice no one can aid them. These were some steps which can help in overcoming from this problem. I remember here beautiful words by our present Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi he said, Mana andhera Ghana hai par Diya jalana bhi kanha mna hai (If it’s dark enough but lightening a lamp is also not banned).  Only a single person can’t solve this imbroglio so we all have to do efforts for a difference in our society.

End of the Line

In the end I just wish to assert that respect women. Don’t take rapes as garden-variety. Accept victim because it’s not her flaw if she was being raped. Support women around you and lend a hand to them. And most important thing every woman should take a stand for her and for other women. This problem will not be cleared in few days but if we’ll try then may be after few years the state will be different. Any article or protest will not succor in dealing with this issue but we have to change ourselves only then we can make a difference in society. We say in Hindi that Umeed par duniya kayam hai (This world runs on hope) and somewhere I have a hope that situation will change and I’m eagerly waiting for that day.

A Side of Indian Women

Women have the ability to create a new life which means they give birth to a new human being. No doubt in giving birth to a new life they bear lot of pain and arduousness and that is why we can proudly assert that a woman is highly appreciable. I remember beautiful words by Diane Mariechild: A woman is full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform. A woman does not only form a new life but she also performs different kind of jobs in her life. Being a daughter she helps her parents at home, being a mother she takes care of her children, being a wife she does every task coveted by her husband, being a daughter -in-law she colloq the whole kit and caboodle for the sake of her in-laws and so on.

Do you think in 21st century a woman actually does all these things which I have mentioned in above lines .You may doubt but it’s  true in 21st century too INDIAN WOMAN does all these things. In INDIA   woman is considered as a GODDESS. Now you may think if a woman is reckoned as GODDESS then her status will be positively high in that country. But the truth is that the state of Indian woman in some parts of India is really PATHETIC.

My purpose is not to criticize Indian society or India but I’m just making an effort to present a side of Indian women. In this article I’m conveying my ideas on the basis of some authentic data manifesting condition of women in India as well as my observations.

India is one of the most dangerous places in the world for women to live as evidenced by the shocking rates of various types of abuse,   including hitting, kicking, choking, and hair pulling and burning.

In India on the basis of praxis and Indian society’s values a woman has to encounter with lot of things but when all misbehavior and abuse is done with a woman then where goes Indian society’s values? We can’t even imagine what a woman has to face in her life on the name of just Indian society’s values/traditions.

A survey was done by NATIONAL CRIMES RECORD BUREAU OF INDIA (Updated on 22nd Jan. 2014) and it was found that 37% of women living in India are abused by their husbands.
24% was the conviction rate of Rape accused in India. 2% rapists were parents of woman, 6% were her relatives, 35% were her neighbors and 57% were other known people.

It is highly shameful for India that in every 20 minutes a woman is raped here.  A woman has to face so Many affliction everyday not only in society but in her own family too. Here girl is considered as AVATAR of GODDESS LAXMI (Indian goddess of wealth) but in some parts of India a girl is highly disliked by her family. Some families abode girl child just because they think a girl is just a millstone on her family.

A woman in India faces lot of problems like MALNUTRITION, POOR HEALTH, LACK OF EDUCATION, OVERWORK, MISTREATMENT, and POWERLESSNESS and so on.

Malnutrition is run-of-the-mill in Indian women and it is surprising to note that all the  food a woman have to prepare but she’s still not able to have proper food. In some Indian families it is maintained that man have to do physical work so only he requires nutritive food but a woman does only household work so she does not require proper food. In some families it is believed that only a boy have to take care of his parents and daughter will not do anything for them after marriage, so parents only take good care of boy child and doesn't even think about the needs of a girl.

Poor health is seen in almost every fifth Indian woman. The reasons for poor health of woman are malnutrition, giving birth to too many children, abortions, lowest status in family, improper care.
In India people are very money minded and no doubt stereotype as well. They assume a girl will marry and will move on to a new family so what’s the use of investing in her education. People also rely on that a girl has to perform only household tasks so why waste money on her education. And because a woman isn't educated she is not aware of her rights and she does not get upbringing in hoisting her voice against her disrespect.

A woman do lot of work even if she does only household work. And if a woman is working still she has to do household work because Indian society holds a woman is supposed to do the household work. So in a way it is overwork for a working woman, first work in office or field and then in house.

Mistreatment of women is garden-variety in Indian society and for the sake of her family, in-laws and children a woman have to agonize daily. There are some areas in India where women are treated like animal, their husbands beat them, and their in-laws threaten them.

A woman is not much powerful in Indian society and it is not wrong to divulge that Indian society does not pay much heed to women.

END OF THE LINE
The condition of Indian woman will change or will not change is a question that every woman who is suffering here in India is asking from herself and from society. If we’ll pay attention towards women around us and help them, may be then there can be a difference in our society. But a woman first has to stand for herself only then anyone can help her. It is said that God helps those who help themselves so Indian Women wake up and fight for your respect. There are some Indian women who have done tremendous job to change their situation and presented a good example in front of other Indian women. No doubt they were lucky and I have highlighted only one side of Indian women and I would love to present good and prosperous state of every Indian woman but for that I have to wait for long.

DIGNITY-essential for being alive!

If I’ll ask what are the essential things a Human Being require for living? You will say Air, Water, Food, and Shelter and so On, but what about Dignity? Angela Markel said, when it comes to Human dignity, we cannot make compromises. Here in this article I’m going to talk about dignity of human being. The reason for picking up this topic certainly is unfairness towards some people and their continuous toil for equality. I have read and heard many incidences related with the people who strive for their dignity and still exerting for dignity. My intentions are not to hurt feelings of people but I’m just attempting to break silence on this crucial topic.

All over the world people are fighting for their respect and people are often discriminated on the basis of their Race, Place of birth, Religion, Being minority and on the basis of caste and so on. I will converse about all one by one.

Racial discrimination is run-of-the-mill all around the world. People frequently face vehemence because they belong to a certain race. From denying individuals the basic principles of equality and non-discrimination to fuelling ethnic hatred that may lead to genocide, racism and intolerance destroy lives and communities. In 2001, the world conference against Racism produced the most authoritative programme for combating Racism, Racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance-the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action. In April 2009, the Durban Review conference examined global programme made in overcoming racism and concluded that much remained to be achieved. I don’t understand why people believe in racism? We all human beings belong to only one category i.e. we all are living beings and God made us equal so how we can draw a distinction between people? People like only those who are alike them but does it make really a big variation if someone doesn't bear same color or creed like us? We are living in 21st century and we proudly disclose we have done this and that but what we have done for our society or for other people?  I’m not trying to convey that we shouldn't live our lives the way we are living now but at least we should pay heed on activities taking place around us.

Indigenous people represent 5% population of world and they also account 15% of the world’s poorest people. Their human rights are oft-times violated. They are again and again marginalized when it comes to projects affecting their lands and have been the victims of forced displacement.

Religion is a garden-variety on which people discern other people. All around the world there are different religions like Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhists, Jains, and Sikhs and so on. But does it intend that if someone is of a particular religion he/she must be separated from others?  We all have right to live our lives in our own ways. If I say I’m a Hindu by religion but I follow Christian values does it mean people should differentiate me from other Hindus? In India there’s always been a tussle between Hindus and Muslims but I don’t understand why? May be they both don’t respect each other’s values but by fighting they are just dis-valuing their own religion too. Any religion does not command that we should show discourtesy towards other religions but its just mind set of people that made them to do so. God has made us coequal and he wanted us to stay happy and love each other and help each other. I want to share one definition of Religion (DHARMA) and it says, DHARMA-JISE DHARAN KIYA JA SAKE i.e. Religion is something which can be accepted. And I know no one want violence so why we are behaving in such an indecent manner on the issue of religion. We should accept everyone the way they are because people are identified by their work not by their religion.

Minority people face inequality everywhere but my query is very simple that all countries in the world have national or ethnic, linguistic and religious minorities within their population and if they are part of their population then what’s the point of distinguishing them from other people.  Minority people are highly disliked in some countries but is it their fault that they are minority? Certainly not because no one want that they will face inequality so if it’s not their fault in being a minority why we are giving them punishment of doing nothing. It made me laugh when I thought of those people who disrespect others because some people are not like them but is that all you need to discriminate among people? If yes then consult a psychiatrist because you really need one. And I appreciate those who treat each individual equally.

Caste in India is a gigantic parameter for segregation of people. The caste system has no legality in India and discrimination against lower castes is illegal in India under Article 15 of its constitution. However, caste-related discrimination and violence continue to be reported. Here in India if a person belongs to scheduled caste, scheduled Tribe or Other Backward class then it is really toilsome for him/her to live a happy life. There are many cases where people faced differentiation and because of being of a particular caste they are living a pathetic life but I don’t want to reveal their identities. There are people who do not get education and if they somehow get education, they have to face bigotry at their work place too. There are cases where people raped women and girls because they belonged to scheduled tribe. When their families went to Police they refused to file their case. In India around 1947 a man of scheduled caste accepted the challenge of being an IAS Officer and when he became an IAS Officer he faced biasness too. His peon used to give him water from a separate glass in office because he was from scheduled caste. He resigned and said that I’m a CHAMAAR (Scheduled Caste) first and an IAS Officer secondly. I feel so much pain in my heart for those who face discrimination around me and all over the world.

There is inequality among people on the basis of being a migrant, being disabled and on the basis of sexuality/gender. I wish if I’ll get some super powers then I’ll delete idea of discrimination from the minds of people, So that we can live our life in our own ways as one family.

End of the Line
I believe discrimination is a creation of people and I don’t even understand why people think that other people are inferior to them just because they are not like them. People should think about others too and before differentiating they should imagine if this kind of behavior will be conducted with them what they will feel? My simple point is we should do the same kind of behavior with others which we expect for us. I just want to convey a message that every human being is equal and if God has made us equal then why we distinguish people? We all have same emotions so why we hurt emotions of others? It’s a humble request to you all, just think about a moment on this topic and behave like a human and stop behaving inhumanly.

Modern definition of Love

What is Love? It’s just a beautiful feeling, we can’t define it. It can never be measured, we can only feel it. Nicholas sparks has defined love as, Love is like the wind, you can’t see it but you can feel it.
I have seen couples living their life happily and loving their partners truly but today it’s honestly quite difficult to find such couples. It’s a modern world so now Love has become modern too. I’m going to deal with Modern Love in this article and my views are on the basis of my observation and experiences of my friends.

My intentions are not to hurt feelings of particular group of people and I do respect those who love their partner genuinely and I wish they’ll have a gleaming future with their love.

Now let me narrate in modern world, what does love actually mean?  For some people Love has become a pastime. People get into relationships and fight on diminutive issues and then finally break-up. I think love is forever and tiny fights can’t separate lovers but what about those couples who in fact had little conflict and broke up. Yes it’s modern love. I remember a guy who said to a girl that he can’t live without her and when that girl had refused his proposal he said she was the ugliest girl he ever met. It was quite funny. My friend proposed a girl and told her,  He loves her a lot and he can’t see her with any other guy just be with him. Girl accepted his proposal and after few months that friend said to me that he can’t stay longer with her. And that girl said the same and they broke up. I don’t understand what kind of love it was? But duration of relationships and love is highly reduced at present.

For some people love of outer flesh is more vital than inner love. If a guy comes across a really alluring girl he can fall for her. At the same time if a girl encounter a guy with good looks she can fall in love with that guy. And if they both are agree they can come into a relationship. So they just saw each other and decided to stay together but what about their feelings, ideas and other things? Oh I forgot its modern love. I espy lot of people around me who don’t even talk with people not having good looks and it absolutely doesn’t matter for them about the feelings of that person because he/she does not have appealing physic or personality. In fact I wish to recite words of a girl when a simple guy proposed her. She replied can’t you see how worthless you are? You are just disgusting, how dare you to say this to me? I felt bad for that guy and in fact I pity for those who are always solicitous for outer beauty because they will never find true love in their life. I credence in, if your heart is comely then you are beautiful and if people yearn for a beautiful heart they will definitely find true love.

Some people express, love is sweet and spicy and it makes life complete. I remember a joke here,
Girl: Love brings spice and sweetness in life.
Boy: Oh really! Then go for Golgappas Na why love?
No doubt love has different definitions for different people, so for some it’s sweet, for some it’s spicy and for some people its combination of both.

I have noticed people giving lot of gifts to their girlfriend and boyfriend and if they don’t bring gifts, their lover remark that you don’t love me anymore. Can gifts measure love? According to me love can only be valued by loving back to your partner and gifts or anything does not affect anyone’s love for beloved. I have seen, people come into relationships because they find some people wealthy and these wealthy people can give many more gifts to them. How funny it is that flawless love is reckoned below than the unfaithful love of a wealthy person. I’m feeling pang in my heart for those who in fact loved someone but because they were not rich or charming they were rebuffed.

People often use their partners and just throw them from their lives. I would like to mention here beautiful words by Robert A. Heinlein; Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own. If we really love someone we cannot hurt that person so throwing them from our lives is just impossible. It becomes stiff to forget all these things and plan a happy life with someone. And I’m perturbed for those who did not get into relationships because of modern scenario of love. Now some people are petrified of falling in love because they don’t want to hurt themselves. But I’m afraid for LOVE, I mean love is just awesome but what will happen in future if we will handle love in the same way like we are treating it now. Let’s see what happens in future but I just wish that everyone must find their true love, who’ll accept them the way they are.

End of the Line
In the end I would like to say that don’t play with emotions of people. Respect love and your partner. Love is a beautiful gift from God to you; don’t try to make it a game. There are people who did not get their love but I think we get only those things which we really deserve. So don’t be sad you’ll find your love soon and till then keep searching for a beautiful heart. One more thing, always have faith in your partner and in the end may be you’ll get a faithful partner or a very good lesson for life. My best wishes to every couple for a resplendent future and those who are single, the best is yet to come so just wait for that.

Sab chalta hai (Everything goes by)

This article is completely a tribute to Indian people. Because of their brush off attitude towards everything it made my mind to write about them. I don’t intend to hurt feelings of people but it’s reality and we must take a look on it.

Indian people are considered most hospitable people in world. And Ateethi devo bhava (Guest is God) is a very famous saying here in India. But you know what when these guests travel by autos of Indian people or purchase something from Indian people they charge thrice extra charges. Reason for charging extra money is not that guest is God but here in India no one pays attention to all this, so SAB CHALTA HAI. All over India people follow SAB CHALTA HAI attitude because no one complains and if someone file one, then officials also say SAB CHALTA HAI. People always maintain that this is India and here SAB CHALTA HAI.

Rules and laws have no practical use here because majority don’t obey them. And if you’ll ask people that why don’t you abide by rules they’ll say SAB CHALTA HAI. I remember a weird reply from a guy when a man asked him why did you break traffic rule. He replied because rules are made, so that we can break them. I mean really??? Rules and laws are made for our own safety. And then that guy said uncle chill SAB CHALTA HAI. Let me share an incident, One boy said to his friend let’s sit in college library and talk there because cafeteria was crowded and his friend  said no one talks in library and if we’ll talk in library then other students will be disturbed then he said don’t worry SAB CHALTA HAI.

In 2005, Govt. had introduced a cleanliness Abhiyana i.e. CLEAN INDIA, HEALTHY INDIA. Under this Govt. marked to frame all streets and roads clean, they also decided to come over tons of garbage but this Abhiyana has failed completely. These Abhiyanas and rules do not possess any value in our life and we don’t even worry about them because SAB CHALTA HAI.

In Govt. schools teachers don’t teach students sincerely and state of some of the Govt. schools is really pathetic but who cares??? If teacher is not there for students, if there is no cleanliness in classrooms, if students don’t have proper sitting arrangement and if mid-day meal is poisonous then what? SAB CHALTA HAI. When these kinds of things will occur with your own kids then you’ll be aware of SAB NHE CHALTA HAI. In U.P., Bihar and Rajasthan there are some Govt. schools which run only on papers, in actuality they don’t exist.

Condition of Govt. hospitals is honestly doleful. There are no proper arrangements for treatment of patients; doctors are not there for treatment and proper attention is not available, so what???SAB CHALTA HAI. If someone met with an accident and his/her situation is critical but doctors will affirm, first talk with police only then we can do anything. Who cares because of police verification may be that person can die. Oho so what??? SAB CHALTA HAI.

If a wealthy person molests a girl and if she’ll try to file a case against him then people will suggest, can’t you see he is very rich so don’t make it a big issue, SAB CHALTA HAI. Now I wish to speak up if that wealthy person will molest your daughter, sister or someone close to you, what will you do then? Or you’ll just announce SAB CHALTA HAI, think about it. Problem is we are noticing everything but don’t crave to pay attention. I remember a short story here, once there was a pigeon and a cat. Cat wanted to eat pigeon and when she approached pigeon, pigeon closed his eyes in the hope that if he’ll not be able to see cat then cat will not have a bite of him. But that was stupidity of pigeon because cat ate him even though his eyes were closed. So that’s what we all are doing and we all know what is right but still we are winking at things day by day. We all have knowledge that rules are for our own benefit and protection but still we are not following them.

We grump for corruption, dirty politics but when it comes to do things in a right way we respond SAB CHALTA HAI. Ragging is a garden-variety in colleges and schools and when someone breaks silence against it majority assert SAB CHALTA HAI. I mean how we all can act so stupid? We understand something is wrong and still we support that thing. If that unjust is now happening with someone else then who knows it can happen with you too. Then what will you do? Oh I forgot, yeah SAB CHALTA HAI.

We all don’t pay our Tax sincerely, we don’t cast our vote and we don’t file complain against something unfair, why??? There are so many cases of rape, physical violence; eve teasing, murder, acid attacks , burning for dowry, honor killing etc. and people just ignore them, because this is India and here SAB CHALTA HAI. When a girl is raped in India our politicians say oh it’s just a rape and you can’t hang someone for this fault. They were boys they did a mistake but hanging them is not right. Mr. Politician I want to express if these boys would have done something like that with your daughter, sister or wife only then you’ll realize the sensitivity of the issue. When it comes to help someone we just ignore them even if they are dying, we say don’t panic, not a big deal SAB CHALTA HAI. Because of this SAB CHALTA HAI tendency we’ll annihilate our society soon through our own hands.

I have seen people writing their names on walls of monuments, throwing garbage on streets and spitting tobacco anywhere and if someone says something to them they just respond SAB CHALTA HAI. It’s painful to even think about those people who are suffering regularly because of our SAB CHALTA HAI attitude and it’ll not be wrong to disclose that we all are just playing hide and seek with reality. I talked with a girl, she’ll be married in one year and now she is pursuing in 12th standard. I asked her do you desire for marriage at this early age.  I mean you have to continue your education, she said what she can say?. When I questioned why? She answered because in her family girls  marry soon and what’s a great deal if this will happen to her too? And then I thought in my mind how I can forget its India and here SAB CHALTA HAI.

This SAB CHALTA HAI opinion towards everything is not beneficial for us. If something hurtful betides with us and we’ll wish for justice and then people will orate SAB CHALTA HAI what we’ll do then?. If someone will spit on your house, write name on your wall, molest your daughter, mother, sister or someone close to you then you’ll apply same SAB CHALTA HAI kind of thinking??? No you’ll break bones of that person. So when all this is taking place daily in our society, why we all don’t react??? We all Indians are brothers and sisters so when it comes to do something for our fellow Indians then why we don’t perform our responsibilities???  Think about it.

End of the Line
My simple point is if we find something unjust then why we support that thing? We all are intelligent enough to arbitrate what is good for us but by closing our eyes we can’t deny the actuality. I know there are some responsible people who always follow all rules, help others, stand for others and try to motivate others too and I truly respect these people but we need more people for making our society a good one. And for that we have to come out from our SAB CHALTA HAI attitude. I know it’ll take time and it’ll not be hands down to change it but we can try and if we’ll try, we’ll definitely succeed.
